Spring seems far away, but we all know it will be here before we know it. And with spring, many of us have the opportunity to participate in a garden tour. I am, of course, especially interested in tours that show of California Native plants.
Here are some possibilities:
- Going Native Garden Tour, Santa Clara and San Mateo County (April 20 and April 21)
- Bringing Back the Natives Tour, East Bay (May 5)
- I'm also hoping that the San Francisco native garden tour and the Theodor Payne tour will be back, but I don't see the dates yet.
I am once again volunteering on the garden selection committee, and it's been a great pleasure to see so many mature, beautiful gardens, with large varieties of species, clearly cared for and stunning even at this time of year.
We've been especially excited that several of the gardens on tour were designed and installed by the home owners. With money so tight these days, these gardens will be a special inspiration for many of the visitors who might not consider the expense of a designer, but might realize that a beautiful native plant garden is actually within their reach.
So -- mark your calender for a special tour!
