Fire Resistant Landscaping - Talk on Community TV (Santa Cruz)

Community Television of Santa Cruz County recorded restoration landscape professional Suzanne Schettler's talk, "Fire Resistant Landscaping - The Basics." Suzanne gave this talk to the Santa Clara and Santa Cruz chapters of CNPS lately.

I'm not sure how wide the access is to this channel. It's apparently available on Comcast 25 and Charter 71. The show ID# is 8482, and it is 55 minutes long.

I would so want to plant a garden of fire resistant plants if I lived in your part of the garden. gail

Indeed! But it's hard when all the local native plants are adapted to deal with arid conditions in ways that make them burn really well - oils to prevent dehydration etc. It's a conundrum that I cogitate lots! Irrigating the plants close to the home helps. also looking around and thinking in terms of fuel for a fire, and getting rid of debris, dead wood, and so on - there are ways to cope in terms of lesser fires. But if the big one comes roaring in our direction - we are roaring out in the other, with a truckload of memorabilia!
