Just this week, several posts on the Gardening with Natives Yahoo! group had great suggestions about finding locally native plants. The question was about finding locally native plants near Saratoga Creek and here are two suggestions:
Calflora -- Do a search at this site for local plants: http://www.calflora.org
CNPLX -- Go to http://www.cnplx.info/query.html website and query for
Lifeform:perennials in County: Santa Clara, Jepson criteria: SFBay bioregion, Plant Community:wetland-Riparian.
Check the Photo box and click Search.
The site returns records with photos. Under each name you can see which sources carry that plant. For example "Aquilegia eximia" says "7 sources". You can then click on the plant name and the site returns a page for the plant in the database and shows the names of the nurseries that carries this plant as well as some more information.
