I love the thought of the hummer picking the fluff and then being mad when you cut down the stalks. I just saw in a catalog metal forked thingeys that are supposed to be for hummer nesting, shaped like the forked branches they prefer. Your nest shows such a branch. Now why would one buy such a thing if they have trees and shrubs that grow them for free? Anyway, the nest is the most precious thing ever. Good scouting! :-)<br />FrancesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8497277770771473008.post-49284467747845507132010-03-03T09:18:14.418-08:002010-03-03T09:18:14.418-08:00Oh Deb, you're right! Then again, we had a dachshund when I was little, and that dog took on all the big guys (tyrannosaurus rex of the dog world, I guess)Town Mousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09777461911856383480noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8497277770771473008.post-40939226194469882762010-03-02T20:41:23.749-08:002010-03-02T20:41:23.749-08:00What a great find! I've been roundly scolded by their tiny voices when walking around in the chaparral, probably because I got too close to a nest. I guess they don't know they are so tiny.Country Mousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13294472166693008328noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8497277770771473008.post-83746452200211253732010-03-01T14:24:10.204-08:002010-03-01T14:24:10.204-08:00A lovely gift indeed. It was kind of you to leave a few seedpods for them. I wonder where they'll build their nest this year?Curbstone Valley Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06714297348566721344noreply@blogger.com
